5-Plaza de Doña Ana de Palacio

Plaza de Doña Ana de Palacio

This is one of the town's most charming squares and it features some iconic stone architecture.

In this square, there is a particularly striking house that was requisitioned by the Republican Army during the Spanish Civil War for use as an operations centre.

Coat of Arms

Turning to the left of this building, there is a closed courtyard surrounded by several different houses. Over the lintel of door number 17, you will see one of the three coats of arms that have the most historical significance here in Valdemorillo.

This particular coat of arms belonged to one of the town's main families and dates back to the 16th century.

Another highlight is the large doorway to a beautiful old courtyard dating back to the 18th century.

The fountain in the centre of the square was built in the 1940s and was one of the first to have running water when pipework was first laid in the town.
